BORARO, THE
In the belief of the TukanoIndians of the upper Amazon, these are the spirits of the forests. Tall, with hairy chests and huge phalluses, their ears stick forwards and their feet backwards; the lack of a knee-joint causes them much difficulty in rising after a fall. The Tukano Indians believe that should a Boraro be sighted carrying a stone hoe, he is looking for someone to devour.
